Coke Making Plants and Refineries

Coke Making Plants and Refineries

The set of coking factories and refineries is another link in the chain of steel production by the blast furnace method. The coking factories of Zarand Iranian Steel Company were established in 1387 and 1393 near the last link of this chain, i.e., the steel-producing complex. In order to improve the process of cooking coke and producing by-products, such as sulfur, benzene, and tar, a refinery unit has also been built in these complexes.

Coke Making Plant No. 1

The most important activity of this factory is the supply of coke required for the blast furnace located in the steel-producing complex. Other products such as sulfur, tar, and benzol are also produced as side products in this factory.

Production Capacity: 400 thousand tons of metallurgical coke annually

Geographical location: km 7 of Zarand-Kerman road

Coke Making Plant No. 2

In order to increase the production capacity of metallurgical coke and feed to the steel-producing complex, the second coke factory of Zarand Iranian Steel Company was built. One of the features of this factory is the use of CDQ technology - metallurgical coke cooling by the dry method, which has been put into operation for the first time in the country.
